衡器偏載調節的目的是使稱重時,同樣重量的物體無論重心處于承載器的任何位置,稱重結果均相同,即誤差不會超過規定大允許誤差。這樣的衡器也能保證四支傳感器在該系統內的力矩是相等的。

這樣的衡器在稱重時,四支傳感器所受力值之和就等于被稱物的重量。當測重心時,用傳感器的力矩之差就可計算出被測物的相對重心位置,即重心位置的坐標是根據所測的力矩差和承載器幾何尺寸,通過計算而得到。所以它的測量誤差是可以根據計算重心的公式求得的,根本不需要試驗來確定,試驗方法僅僅是對測量結果的旁證。
